花子狩り, Hanako Hunting

In a society where the existence of spirits—bound spirits, guardian spirits, and wandering souls—has been scientifically proven, Tokyo has officially renamed them “Hanako” and established a special department to handle them. Their official duty: capture and protect the Hanako. But in reality, the job involves hunting and disposing of these spirits, who are treated as societal anomalies. The cries of the Hanako go unheard, dismissed by a world that refuses to listen… From Toshiko Machida, the author of Okuru Kotoba, comes a gripping social suspense drama exploring the clash between society and the unseen.
